How to clean a microfiber couch

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is a good cleaner and microfiber cleaning cloth for microfiber couches and can be used on various surfaces to remove stubborn stains or scuff marks. These magic erasers consist of a cleaning product inside melamine foam.

I had no idea the magic eraser could be used on microfiber–which is a good way to know how to spot-clean a microfiber couch. Do not saturate the microfiber with water or other solvents. Instead, wet the magic eraser and do a pat and scrub technique to lift the stain from the fabric surface. This is the easiest way to clean a microfiber couch.

Are magic erasers toxic, or do they come with other health or safety risks? The National Institute of Health lists them as a non-toxic product. Because of this, they don’t require any health-related labeling laws.

If you still want to use another option to clean a microfiber couch, a mixture of baking soda and water creates a paste that will scrub stubborn spots away.

To make your own microfiber couch cleaners, you can also use a common household solvent of 100% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, this is a good choice to disinfect a microfiber recliner. You can put this solution in a spray bottle for easy cleaning.

Lightly spray the stained area with the rubbing alcohol cleaning solution.  Then rub a light-colored, clean, soft cloth or soft-bristled brush on the stain, and repeat until the stain is completely removed. You will notice the stain will lift from the microfiber and will transfer to the cleaning cloth.

Again, do not saturate the fabric–rather, it should be a light spray. Once you have treated all stained areas, use a stiff bristle brush to swipe the fibers in their natural direction.  You will have the best results when you brush the fabric before the alcohol drying. Once dry, if you still see tough stains, repeat the steps until the stain is no longer present.
