Keep your microfiber looking like new

Microfiber is one of the best upholstery fabrics for durability.  Microfiber is very easy to care for, and will withstand many years of wear for a fabric that is made from synthetic fibers.  Here are a few tips for cleaning your microfiber furniture.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser can be used on a variety of surfaces to remove stains or scuff marks.  I had no idea the magic eraser could be used on microfiber.  Do not saturate the microfiber with water or other solvents.  Instead, wet the magic eraser and do a pat and scrub technique to lift the stain from the fabric surface.

You can also use a common household solvent of 100% isopropyl rubbing alcohol.  Lightly spray the stained area with the rubbing alcohol.  Then rub a light colored clean soft cloth on the stain, and repeat until the stain is completely removed.  You will notice the stain will lift from the microfiber, and will transfer to the cleaning cloth.  As you continue over the entire piece of furniture spraying and scrubbing, you will see a significant difference in cleanliness.  Again, do not saturate the fabric, rather it should be a light spray.  Once you have treated all stained areas, use a stiff bristle brush to swipe the fibers into their natural direction.  You will have best results when you brush the fabric prior to the alcohol drying.  Once dry, if you see the stubborn borders still present of a past stain, just repeat the spray, scrub, and brush technique again until the stained border is no longer present.

It is essential to have high quality microfiber to keep the sofa beautiful for years to come.  K4199 Eggplant is a beautiful deep purple, and the fabric is plush as you can see in the photo.  This microfiber is 100% polyester, and has substantial durability.  K3249 Marsh Ultrastitch is a soft and supple microfiber that features a geometric stitching.  This is a good choice when you are looking for a microfiber that is an edgier look than the traditional fabric. K3249 Marsh The higher quality microfibers have a tighter weave, and can prevent unsightly snags or punctures in the furniture.  Using the aforementioned techniques will keep your furniture looking and feeling just a plush as the day you brought it home.
