In the last few years, we\u2019ve seen a trend toward bolder, more dramatic interior styles. Design lovers are turning away from the middle ground and leaning into more adventurous styles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most significant ways to impact your space is to use exciting textiles in your design projects. You don\u2019t have to be an interior designer to pick out fantastic fabric! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re going to break down the top textile trends for you.&nbsp;After learning about the top trends, you\u2019ll be able to determine which ones you feel most drawn to and can incorporate into your own interior style.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-trending-textiles\">Trending Textiles<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-linen\">Linen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In some parts of the world, linen is a standard textile in interior design. This is usually the case in warmer climates due to the breathability of linen. It doesn\u2019t hurt that it has a beachy style to go along with its cool-to-the-touch materiality.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This textile has been trending along with the neutral-heavy California-modern style. Think creams, white, pops of black, and minimal pattern. If you don\u2019t want your space to fall flat, this will require a heavy dose of textiles. Layering textiles, even when they\u2019re monochromatic, can provide a lot of visual interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those of us who aren\u2019t living on the coast, adding linen into your space can bring in an element of airiness. This is especially true when it comes to larger pieces of fabric like curtains or a sofa.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t have to want a coastal look in order to work this material into your home. Linen doesn\u2019t just come in white or sand colors like we\u2019re used to seeing. We love the classic colors but encourage you to look at the variety of colors linen comes in for your next upholstery project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pros:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Versatile<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cool-to-the-touch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Easy to clean<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Unexpected outside of coastal style<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cons:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Thinner material<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Less cozy in cooler environments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wrinkle-prone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-velvet\">Velvet&nbsp;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a certain versatility about velvet textiles. Color aside, it works well with multiple interior design styles and adds a certain richness to a project. Even the lightest, brightest velvet makes an interior look both cozy and put-together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, velvet has been trending in the brightest fun colors, especially when it comes to sofa and chair upholstery. Two colors we\u2019ve seen a lot more of are green and orange. While there\u2019s no telling how long this trend will last, we love seeing more people embrace bright pops of color with their velvet materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many people think of velvet as a dark or outdated material because of the applications they\u2019ve seen it in, such as crushed velvet of the 80s or deep reds of Victorian style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The truth is, velvet can be preppy, modern, cottage-core, and transitional \u2013 and all at once. We believe this is why they&#8217;re one of the biggest trending textiles over the last year. It makes a statement while also remaining versatile. A bright orange velvet sofa might not be as transitional, but it will always be sure to stand out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Pros:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Velvet has richer colors<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soft to the touch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Holds warmth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cons:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Shows stains<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Could be too hot for a warmer climate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Potentially difficult to clean and care for.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-few-questions-to-ask-yourself-before-trying-out-these-trends\">A Few Questions To Ask Yourself Before Trying Out These Trends:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Does this trend match my dream style (Pinterest pins, photos saved in your phone, etc.)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will I be happy with this choice in 3, 6, or 12 months?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Would this trend work with my current decor?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do I feel drawn to this because it\u2019s trendy, or do I love it?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How long do I think I\u2019ll be happy with this choice?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-try-something-new\">Try Something New<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re big fans of trying something new and getting outside your comfort zone regarding your textile choices.
