Couch covers are a classic item in a home for good reasons. They protect your upholstery and allow you to pick a new style for your couch without buying a new piece of furniture. But sewing them can be a bit of a process. Luckily, you don’t need to. Below are a couple of methods for making a DIY couch cover without sewing anything.
The Tie Method
The easy method comes from Shabby Jen. The crafter used two painter’s drop cloths and one chenille bedspread, plus some string. You could easily substitute those with two attractive pieces of fabric of your choice. One of the great parts of this project is the customizability. You can see the full tutorial at the link above. Basically, you just drape fabric over the couch and tuck it in, tying the ends at the armrest.
The Pin Method
As the name suggests, this method requires pinning some fabric to keep it tucked in on the couch. You wrap the couch tightly with cloth, then pin it. The more creative and attractive you can make the pinned sofa, the better. Think of it like wrapping a present in as attractive a way as possible.
